After winning Grand Prix and Special prize in the Maria Callas Grand Prix International Competition in 2014, he debuted as Count Horn in Verdi’s "Un Ballo in Maschera" at the Staatsoper Hannover.
Between 2016 and 2018 he was a member of the ensemble of the Stadttheater Klagenfurt in Austria, where he interpreted roles such as Sarastro in "The Magic Flute", Giorgio Talbot in "Maria Stuarda", ll Commendatore in "Don Giovanni", Lodovico in "Otello" and Pope in "Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk".
Since the season 2018/19 he joins the ensemble of the Staatstheater Braunschweig in Germany, where he sang leading roles such as Zaccaria in "Nabucco", Colline in "La bohème", Prince Gremin in "Eugene Onegin" and L'aïeul, Le viellard, Aglovale in Raimman's "L'invisible".
In the 2019/20 season Jisang Ryu has sung Verdi's "Messa da Requiem" with the conductor Stefan Soltesz and Beethoven's "Missa Solemnis" with the conductor Srba Dinic. In the 2020/21 season He will also include his role debut as Vodnik in "Rusalka" at the Staatstheater Braunschweig.
Jisang Ryu has worked with conductors including Attilio Cremonesi, Alexander Soddy, Kristina Poska, Lorenzo Viotti, Giedre Slekyte, Lionel Friend, David Crescenzi, Loukas Karytinos, Edoardo Müller, Benjamin Reiners, Myron Michailldis, David Pfeffer, Iván López Reynoso, Stefan Soltesz or Srba Dinic and he worked together with the following Stagedirectors including Olivier Tambosi, Stephen langridge, Michael Sturminger, Immo Karaman, Aron Stiehl, Ben Baur, Florentine Klepper, Richard Brunel, Patrick Schlösser, Vincent Huguet, Stephen Medcalf, Markus Bothe, Klaus Christian Schreiber, Dirk Schmeding, Andrea Schwalbach, Tatjana Gürbaca or Isabel Ostermann.
He has performed with orchestras such as St. Petersburg, Brüssel, Aalborg, Bucharest Radio, San Marino, Bern, Albanian, Kärntner Symphony Orchestra and Athens State Orchestra.
He studied at the Yonsei University in Seoul and subsequently at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne Germany, where he graduated in the class of Prof. Henner Leyhe. After he completed his studies with Bonaldo Giaiotti and Kurt Moll.
He has enjoyed great success in many international singing competitions, he was awarded with a Grand Prix at the "38th International Maria Callas Grand Prix" in Athens (2014), 1.Prize at the "Marie Kraja" International Competition in Tirana (2013), 1.Prize at the "Luciano Neroni" International Competition in Ripatransone (2013). Oper Frankfurt Prize at the "Opera Pienza" in Pienza (2013). In addition, he won the important International competitions, e.g . "Swiss Ernst Haefliger" International Competition in Bern (2014), "Le grand prix de l'opera" in Bucharest (2014), and "Piero Cappuccilli" in Alexandria (2013)
His first stage experiences at the Theater Aachen (2009), where he debuted with the Big Part of the Buonafede in Haydn's "Il Mondo delle Luna". As a guest singer, he was invited to sing Staatsoper Hannover, Theater Gent, Landestheater Niederbayern, Greek National Opera. As a Soloist he performed in Italy, Belgium, Germany, Swiss, Denmark, Romania, Austria, and Korea.

Nachdem er bei International „Maria Callas“ Grand Prix Wettbewerbe 2014 den Grand Prix gewonnen hatte, debütierte an die Staatsoper Hannover. Wo er mit der Partie des Count Horn in Verdis "Un Ballo in Maschera" sang.
Von 2016 bis 2018 war er Ensemblemitglied des Stadttheaters Klagenfurt, wo er u. a. als Sarastro in "Die Zauberflöte", Giorgio Talbot in "Maria Stuarda", Lodovico in "Otello", Der Komtur in "Don Giovanni", Dottor Grenvil in "La traviata" und Pope in "Lady Macbeth von Mzensk" auf der Bühne stand.
Ab der Spielzeit 2018/19 wechselte Jisang Ryu an das Staatstheater Braunschweig, wo er große Partien seines Fachs gesungen hat, darunter Zaccaria in "Nabucco", Colline in "La bohème" Fürst Gremin in Eugen Onegin und L'aïeul, Le viellard, Aglovale in Raimmans "L'invisible" unter der Leitung von Srba Dinic.

Konzerttätigkeiten umfassen internationale Auftritte, u.a. war er als Solist in "Verdis Messa da Requiem", Mozarts "Messe C-Major", Strawinskys "Pulcinella", Bachs "Weihnachtsoratorium" und Haydns "Die Schöpfung" zu hören.
Er sang mit vielen Sinfonieorchestern, wie z.B. dem St. Petersburg, Aalborg, Bukarest Radio, San Marino, Brüssel, Albanien, Bern, Kärntner Sinfonieorchester und Staatsorchester Athens.
Jisang Ryu absolvierte sein Gesangsstudium an der Yonsei Universität in seiner Heimatstadt Seoul. Anschließend studierte er an der Hochschule für Musik in Köln, wo er mit Diplom und Konzertexamen bei Prof. Henner Leyhe abschloss und seine Ausbildung u.a. bei Bonaldo Giaiotti und Kurt Moll ergänzte.
Er ist Preisträger mehrerer internationaler Wettbewerbe, wie z.B. den Grand Prix beim Internationalen Wettbeweb “38th International Maria Callas Grand Prix” in Athen (2014), 1.Preis beim Internationalen Gesangswettbewerb "Marie Kraja" in Tirana (2013), 1.Preis beim Internationalen Gesangswettbewerb "Luciano Neroni" in Ripatransone (2013) und den Oper Frankfurt Preis beim Internationalen Gesangswettbewerb “Opera Pienza” in Pienza (2013). Seine erste Bühnenerfahrungen am Theater Aachen (2009), dort debütierte er mit der Große Partie des Buonafede in Haydns Il Mondo delle Luna.
Außerdem gastierte er an der Staatsoper Hannover am Landestheater Niederbayern an die Theater Gent und der Greek National Opera.
Jisang Ryu pflegt eine rege Konzerttätigkeit in Italien, Belgien, Dänemark, Rumänien, Russland, der Schweiz, Österreich und Korea.

베이스 류지상은 연세대학교 성악과를 졸업하고 도독하여 독일 쾰른 국립음대에서 석사과정 <Diplom>을 수석으로 졸업했다.이후 동대학원에서 최고연주자과정 <Kozertexamen> 학위를 취득했다.
그리스 마리아 칼라스 국제콩쿠르, 스위스 에른스트 헤플리거 국제콩쿠르, 루마니아 부쿠레슈티 국제 콩쿠르 등 총 6개국 13개의 권위있는 국제콩쿠르에서 우승 및 입상과 함께 오페라 피엔자에서 독일 프랑크푸르트 극장상을 수상했다.
2014년 그리스 마리아 칼라스 국제콩쿠르에서 대상(Grand Prix)을 차지한 후 그리스 아테네 국립오페라에서 <카르멘>의 투우사 "에스카미요"역으로 초대됐다. 이 후 독일 하노버 국립극장에서 베르디의 오페라 <가면무도회>의 “혼 백작” 역으로 초대됐고, 이후 마리아 칼라스 국제콩쿠르 심사위원 중 한명이였던 당시 뮌헨 국립 오페라 캐스팅 디렉터인 크리스티안 칼슈테트에게 발탁되어 오스트리아 클라겐푸르트 오페라 하우스에서 전속계약을 제안받고, 극장 전속 솔리스트로 활동을 시작한다.
오페라 <마술피리>의 "자라스트로" 역, <마리아 스투아르다>의 “탈보트” 역, <오텔로> 의 “로도비코” 역 등의 주역으로 출연과 동시에 독일 볼프스부르크에서 베르디 레퀴엠의 독창자로 연주를 하던 중 공연을 관람하던 독일 브라운슈바이크 국립극장 오페라 디렉터 이사벨 오스터만에게 캐스팅 된다.
2018년 다시 독일로 돌아온 류지상은 브라운슈바이크 국립극장에서 지금까지 오페라 <나부코>의 “자카리아”역 , <라보엠>의 “콜리네”역, <예브게니 오네긴>의 “그레민” 역 <마술피리>의 "자라스트로"역 <루살카>의 "보드닉"역 등의 작품에서 주역으로 출연 했고 앞으로 <라인의 황금>의 "파프너" 역, <아이다>의 "람피스" 역 그리고 대구오페라하우스에서 <람메르무어의 루치아>의 "라이몬도" 역 등의 공연들이 예정되어 있다.
유네스코에 등재된 국제 콩쿠르 우승자들을 초대하는 러시아 올림푸스 국제 음악제에 초대되어 상트 패테르부르크 심포니 오케스트라와 협연했고 벨기에 브뤼셀 심포니 오케스트라와 오페라 <노르마>의 “오로베소” 역을 공연했다. 덴마크 올보르크 심포니, 루마니아 부쿠레슈티 라디오 방송국 필하모닉, 오스트리아 캐른튼 심포니, 스위스 베른 심포니, 그리스 아테네 국립 오케스트라 등 세계 유수의 오케스트라와 협연했고 슈테판 솔테즈, 알렉산더 소디, 로렌조 비오티, 스르바 디니치, 아틸리오 크레모네시, 크리스티나 포스카, 데이비드 페퍼 등의 정상급 지휘자와 함께 하이든의 천지창조, 베르디 레퀴엠, 베토벤 장엄미사, 바흐의 크리스마스 오라토리오, 스트라빈스키의 풀치넬라 등의 다양한 작품과 현대 오페라를 포함하여 약 30여편의 오페라를 400회 이상 공연했다.
특히 2020년 독일 브라운슈바이크에서 열린 베토벤 탄생 250주년 기념 음악회는 독일 공영방송 NDR에서 생방송됐다.
류지상은 현재 독일 브라운슈바이크 국립극장 전속 솔리스트로 활동 중이며 유럽을 중심으로 활동을 이어나가고 있다.
